Human Rights Day!

as one.

Rights...

Today is Human Rights Day!

What does this mean for you?  For me it means rights for those that are human.  Rights that allow people to be free and be who they are.

According to the , ”

This year thousands of people decided the time had come to claim their rights. They took to the streets and demanded change. Many found their voices using the internet and instant messaging to inform, inspire and mobilize supporters to seek their basic human rights.

Social media helped activists organize peaceful protest movements in cities across the globe—in Tunis, in Cairo, in Madrid, in New York, and in cities and towns across the globe—at times in the face of violent repression.

It has been a year like no other for human rights. Human rights activism has never been more topical or more vital. And through the transforming power of social media, ordinary people have become human rights activists.

Human rights belong equally to each of us and bind us together as a global community with the same ideals and values. As a global community we all share a day in common: Human Rights Day on 10 December, when we remember the creation 63 years ago of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights.

On Human Rights Day 2011 we pay tribute to all human rights defenders and ask you to get involved in the global human rights movement.”

So , if you are reading this… today is  day to honor our rights!  You deserve it.  I deserve it.  WE deserve it!

Let’s celebrate our rights!  We are all different and unique, but should celebrate the same rights.

Tomorrow: National Noodle Ring Day.

Well, hello there.

Hello

Howdy

Today is World Hello Day.

Reach out and say, “Hello!”

According to worldhelloday.org: “Anyone can participate in World Hello Day simply by greeting ten people.  This demonstrates the importance of personal communication for preserving peace.

World Hello Day was begun in response to the conflict between Egypt and Israel in the Fall of 1973.  Since then, World Hello Day has been observed by people in 180 countries.

People around the world use the occasion of World Hello Day as an opportunity to express their concern for world peace.  Beginning with a simple greeting on World Hello Day, their activities send a message to leaders, encouraging them to use communication rather than force to settle conflicts.

So, let’s spread the peace and show our love.

turntoday will say “hello” to at least 20 people today!

Hello.

Tomorrow: Go For A Ride Day.

Get out there!

Today there are a lot of holidays to celebrate: World Peace Day, Great American Smokeout Day, Homemade Bread Day, Electronic Greeting Card Day, and Take a Hike Day.

It’s a day to advocate peace, not smoke, enjoy some carbs, send a little love, and move a bit.  turntoday plans to do all of the aforementioned and encourage others to do the same.

So, what are you celebrating today?

Tomorrow: Occult Day.
