National “Joe” Day!

Today is National “Joe” Day!
That’s right… everyone can elect to be called Joe all day long or call others Joe. Since my name is Joe this is a great holiday!
Yahoo! News brought up some nice facts about the name Joe: “From 1911 to 2010, Joseph was the eighth-most popular baby boy name in the U.S., trailing behind James, John, Robert, Michael, William, David and Richard according to the Social Security Administration…The use of Joe in phrases was common in the 1930s and appeared in various expressions including “an ordinary Joe” to the reference to an enlisted man as ‘GI Joe’ according to World Wide Words.”
When I get home tonight, I’m totally putting on my “Not Your Average Joe” t-shirt!
theultimateholidaysite.com adds a little jazz: “No need for the ‘Hello My Name Is’ stickers today! Because on March 27th, everyone’s name is Joe. And if your name already was Joe’ well then we’ll just call you Thor.”
I’m sticking with Joe… and now I will go have a cup of Joe.
Today, just like any day, you can make it be whatever you want.
Cheers, Joe!
Tomorrow: National Something On a Stick Day.

Middle Name Pride Day.

Yesterday (or perhaps today, depending on who you ask) is Middle Name Pride Day.  So, we’ll be a little different today and have a singular weekend post.
Do you have pride with your middle name?  Do you know how your middle name was chosen?  Was is given to you based off of someone’s name?
I normally do not share my middle name.  I make people guess… perhaps because one of my core values is fun. Why not play a game when you can.  I usually start by saying it is a Saint.  This most of the time does not get people to guess it right away because it is not a saint people usually think of right away.  Anyway, my middle name is Nicholas.
My name was chosen based of both of grandfather’s middle names: Joseph Nicholas.  I’m honored to be named after them and that is why I have pride in my middle name?
What’s your middle name story?  Head on over to Facebook and show your middle name pride.
Tomorrow: Plant a Flower Day.

Get A Different Name Day.

An Empty Card.

What's in a name?

Today is Get A Different Name Day.

What’s in a name?  More than you think.  How does your name work for you?  Well, today is a day to go by a completely different name.  Not sure what name you want.  Figure it out today and try it out tomorrow.

Yahoo News! contributes:

“If you’ve ever felt like your name doesn’t quite fit change it on Get a Different Name Day. Try on a new name for a day, or consider a permanent and legal change. Wellcat suggests that you ask friends, family and colleagues to call you by your new, chosen name.

  • Try on a weirdly popular baby name.
  • It may be time to finally change your name back to your birth name if you’re divorced.
  • For a less permanent change, wait until April 9 for Name Yourself Day.”

What’s in a name?  Completely what you want it to be!

Tomorrow: Valentine’s Day. (I could have picked National Ferris Wheel Day)
