Today is Alexander Graham Bell Day.
“Ahoy!”
If your reading this on your smart phone, you have Mr. Graham to thank.
To learn a little more about today I found some interesting facts at theultimateholidaysite.com:
“On this day in 1876, Alexander Graham Bell patented the telephone. His marvelous invention would come to revolutionize the communication industry and forever spare us from certain awkward face-to-face conversations. Originally, Bell suggested we all say ‘ahoy’ when answering the phone, but then Thomas Edison totally ruined everything by changing it to ‘hello.’ So today in honor of Bell, when you pick up the phone let out a hearty ‘ahoy!'”
Besides the life-altering telephone, we can also pull some life lessons from Alexander.  Here are 5
Life Lesson 1 – Always be developing.
“A man, as a general rule, owes very little to what he is born with – a man is what he makes of himself.” – Alexander Graham Bell.
Life Lesson 2 – Always have a plan.
“Before anything else, preparation is the key to success.” – Alexander Graham Bell.
Life Lesson 3 – Always look for the opportunity.
“Sometimes we stare so long at a door that is closing that we see too late the one that is open.” – Alexander Graham Bell.
Life Lesson 4 – Always build on what you learned yesterday and use it today.
“The most successful men in the end are those whose success is the result of steady accretion.” – Alexander Graham Bell.
Life Lesson 5 – Always single task.
“Concentrate all your thoughts upon the work at hand. The sun’s rays do not burn until brought to a focus. ” – Alexander Graham Bell.
Tomorrow: Popcorn Lovers Day.

Well, hello there.

Hello

Howdy

Today is World Hello Day.

Reach out and say, “Hello!”

According to worldhelloday.org: “Anyone can participate in World Hello Day simply by greeting ten people.  This demonstrates the importance of personal communication for preserving peace.

World Hello Day was begun in response to the conflict between Egypt and Israel in the Fall of 1973.  Since then, World Hello Day has been observed by people in 180 countries.

People around the world use the occasion of World Hello Day as an opportunity to express their concern for world peace.  Beginning with a simple greeting on World Hello Day, their activities send a message to leaders, encouraging them to use communication rather than force to settle conflicts.

So, let’s spread the peace and show our love.

turntoday will say “hello” to at least 20 people today!
