Plant a Flower Day.

Today is Plant a Flower Day.
Indoors or out.  Or maybe you make a plan to plant a flower sometime later.  Pick a date, put it in a calendar, set an alarm on your phone, and commit.
According to the National Wildlife Federation, you have another option: “Although cold temperatures or other challenges may prevent some folks from planting outside at this time of year, starting seeds indoors is an option for anyone who wants to benefit from the ‘flower power’ that Burbank describes. Indeed, many native plants will not blossom from seed in the first year unless they get a head start, due to their long growing seasons. Wildlife-attracting perennials such as blazing star, purple coneflower and bee balm are just three examples.”
I also like how the examiner.com comments on today, “In honor of this fragrant and colorful holiday, today is the day to get down and get a little dirty! It’s time to get your green thumb on!”
Let’s start producing some oxygen.
Tomorrow: Jewel Day.

Floral Design Day.

Today is Floral Design Day.

Everyone loves flowers… right?  If I was able to send all my readers flowers I would… or my readers could send me flowers.

Today actually is a declared holiday in Massachusetts. Read the online post from floralschool.com:

“The original idea behind Floral Design Day, was an unique way to celebrate a special birthday of Carl Rittner, who founded our school.

Mr. “R” as our students affectionately called him, founded The Rittners School of Floral Design, in Boston, over sixty years ago, and was a pioneer in floral art education. Through the years, his humor, patience and wealth of floral industry knowledge have had a marked impact upon thousands of students from all over the globe.

So it was particularly meaningful when Gov. Weld of Massachusetts proclaimed Floral Design Day as part of Mr. Rittner’s special birthday celebration.

The idea of a holiday that celebrates floral design as an art form, is a wonderful one whose time has come. And so, Mr. R and the rest of us here at Rittners, wanted to see Floral Design Day continue to be observed as an event in its own right.”

So, let’s cheers to Mr. Rittner and Floral Arranging.

Just like flower arranging moving something, adding something, or taking something away can make all of the difference… so true if for life.  What is working?  What’s not?  Sometimes we need a little re-arranging.

Tomorrow: Leap Day!

Happy Valentine’s Day!

Happy Valentine’s Day.

I thought about talking about the history of Valentine’s Day… But that really is not what this day is all about to a lot of people.

As I went to my train to ride home tonight, I saw everyone rushing home. Even though people are rushing, today was different. People had a different look about them. It was a look like today was special!

So, whether you are spending time with your one and only fish or you are still sitting on the dock waiting for a bite…

Remember that today might stand out as Valentine’s Day, but it also a Tuesday! So, when Wednesday rolls around tomorrow, let’s approach the day like it is a special day… Because just like today, tomorrow only happens once in the existence of time!

Make every day count!

“Today is a gift… If not, why else would it be called the present.” – Anonymous.

Tomorrow: National Gum Drop Day!

I’ll Remember

Love you.

Arturo!

Happy Forget Me Not Day.

According to Yahoo News, “Take Nov. 10, celebrated the day before Veteran’s Day, as a way to remember those who are dear to us. According to legend a Medieval knight and his beloved were walking near a river when he fell into the water. The weight of his armor kept him from escaping his fate. Before he slipped away he handed his love a handful of blue flowers and said, “forget me not.” Give Forget Me Not Flowers to show faithful love or to show a friend or family member is on your mind.”

Let’s remember our loved one who have past.  More importantly, let’s take the time to reach out to those still with us that we love.

turntoday’s goal for the day – tell at least 10 people that they mean a lot to me and thank them for being who they are.

Remember those who shaped you and those are currently helping you mold your future.

Tomorrow: Veteran’s Day.
